Contest Details

So, you want in on the Ultimate Internship? Awesome! Here is the low-down of how it is going to work. Want all the fine print? Read the Official Rules and Regulations. For everyone else – here is the layperson’s version…

There Are 4 Rounds In the Contest

Just a quick note – until the lawyers all agree on the rules, these things could change. So…here is the basic idea, but once we have the finalized rules we will let you know!

That’s right – you have to make it through all 4 rounds to have a chance at winning the Ultimate Internship. The first 2 rounds are open to everyone, as long as they can meet the requirements. Round 3 and 4 is when the competition starts to get interesting. Let’s look at each round in more detail.

Round 1 – Making Real Connections

The Ultimate Internship is offered by Intern Inc, which is an online social network providing internship profiles and the opportunity to make real connections in the internship hiring world (with companies like GE, Purina, RedHat, Prudential, PWC, and so many more).

To show you can do that, you have to do the following to make it through to round 2:

  • Get 10 Friends To Join Intern Inc – You can invite as many people as you want, but to make it to round 2, you need 10 of your friends / referrals to sign up for a free account on Intern Inc.
  • Get 10 People To Complete A Survey – Intern Inc is working hard to change the way that people find an internship and how companies hire for their internships. To help that along, we are asking that you get 10 of your friends, family, co-workers, teachers, or whomever – take just 5 minutes and complete a survey.

That’s it for round 1!

Round 2 – Invest In Relationships To Win Points

The big idea behind Intern Inc. and The Ultimate Internship is to help students expand their network. Getting a great job today requires a network of friends and professionals. This round is all about expanding and investing in those relationships.

Earn points in the contest by doing the following:

  • Complete Volunteer Hours – You can either submit hours you have done in the past year, or complete new ones. You can earn up to 250 points with Volunteer Hours. You need at least 20 volunteer hours to be eligible for round 3.
  • Complete Mock Interviews – To earn points for a mock interview, you need to get people that you know to conduct a mock interview of you. They are then required to fill out an evaluation form on how you did. The focus is on doing the work – and getting better, not on the evaluation of your interview. You need at least 10 mock interview surveys completed to be eligible for round 3.
  • Receive Recommendations – This is a chance to ask your teachers, professors, co-workers, previous and/or current employers and even your friends to provide a recommendation of you. You need at least 10 recommendations to be eligible for round 3.

Those are the minimum requirements, but round 2 is about making it to the top. The top 250 applicants, as determined by the number of points they have earned will move on to Round 3, assuming they have met the minimum requirements. To earn additional points, you can do any and all of the following:

  • Give Other People Recommendations
  • Make Connections (Friend Requests with others)
  • Create A Group
  • Get Involved in discussions in your group, or in other groups

Details on Round 3 and 4 are coming soon…
